Casino Royale, the 21st James Bond film, is due to start shooting shortly and is to be released in November 2006.
There is already a topic Topics among fans of the franchise, 007, with the new James Bond, Daniel Craig, generating much debate among fans.
Fans of the books original Ian Fleming will be hoping for a more authentic picture of both the character and the book.
The producers seem to have been reluctant to take a risk with the formula in the past, probably for purely financial reasons.
The time has come now they have been, perhaps, have no other choice but to bring a new era.
We hope to see a movie more realistic and harsh, less gadgets and explosions, more dialogue and less than jeers.
Something of the opportunity was lost when the very real possibility of a Tarantino / collaboration Brosnan has failed.
The director of Goldeneye is back and is responsible for us to deliver a new Bond. His work on Goldeneye
resurrected the franchise so he has the qualifications to do so again.
Speculation is, as always, beset by great ladies and Bond girls. The charcter of Vesper Lynd will be the most vital role of women and we expect to
go either to a very large name or a complete stranger.
Time tell us if they have the courage to make a film worthy of Ian Fleming's original creation - hope they do.
Information on books origianl can be found by Ian Fleming

Ken Adam Designs the Movies: James Bond and Beyond $46.98 Showcasing the work of Ken Adam, the man who created some of the most iconic and memorable sets in the history of the movies. Ken Adam is the most distinguished living production designer in the world. His work spans seven decades and more than seventy-five movies, from his revolutionary designs for the first seven James Bond movies to work on Stanley Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon" and Alan Bennett's "The Madness of King George," for both of which he won an Oscar. Born in Germany, Adam trained in London as an architect, and his first Art Director credit was on Around the World in Eighty Days in 1956. He has subsequently worked in Hollywood, Italy, and Germany as well as Britain. Ken Adam's extensive personal archive of concept sketches, drawings, set stills, and photographs from every stage of his career forms the basis of this book. Using case studies from the 1950s to the present day, it shows the whole cycle of his production designs, from initial concept to what appears on the screen itself. The result encapsulates the evolving role of the Art Director and Production Designer from the golden age of the big studios to the digital fantasies of the early twenty-first century. The commentary is by Christopher Frayling, Rector of the Royal College of Art, London, Chairman of the Arts Council, England, Chairman of the UK's Design Council, and a Trustee of the Victoria & Albert Museum. 250 illustrations, 180 in color. |

The Science of James Bond $15.95 The science behind the gadgets, exploits, and enemies of the world's greatest spy From the sleek Aston Martin that spits out bullets, nails, and passengers at the push of a button to the microjet that makes hairpin turns to avoid a heat-seeking missile, the science and technology of James Bond films have kept millions of movie fans guessing for decades. Are these amazing feats and gadgets truly possible? The Science of James Bond takes you on a fascinating excursion through the true science that underlies Bond's most fantastic and off-the-wall accoutrements. The acclaimed science-fiction authors Lois Gresh and Robert Weinberg provide a highly entertaining, informative look at the real-world achievements and brilliant imaginations behind such singular Bond gadgets as the buzz-saw Rolex, the car that turns into a submarine, and the ever-popular rocket-firing cigarette. They examine hundreds of Q Division's ingenious inventions; analyze Bond's astonishing battles beneath the earth and sea, in the skies, and even in outer space; and ask intriguing questions that lead to enlightening discussions about the limits of science, the laws of nature, and the future of technology. Filled with entertaining anecdotes from Bond movie shoots and supplemented with "tech" ratings for all of the Bond movies, The Science of James Bond separates scientific fact from film fantasy--with some very surprising results. |

The James Bond Songbook [BGP] $11.18 The James Bond Songbook, as even the liner notes for the 2006 CD of the LP on BGP admit, was a cash-in album on the craze for all things James Bond that had enveloped the world by the mid-'60s. Cleverly, the record was titled to be credited to the James Bond Sextet -- even though such an ensemble didn't really exist -- as the bassist was indeed named James Bond, though he usually went by the name of Jimmy Bond as a Los Angeles session man. Even by the standards of exploitation albums, however, this might be a disappointment. Not for the quality of the music, which is pretty competent cool jazz, but because, though all 12 of the song titles are taken from Ian Fleming novels that were made into films (excepting Monty Norman's famous "James Bond Theme"), in fact the majority of these are not the soundtrack themes actually used in the movies. For when this came out in 1965, just four of these movies had actually been made. That means that only "Thunderball," "From Russia with Love," "007 Theme from Dr. No," and "Goldfinger" (as well as "James Bond Theme") correspond to the themes actually heard on the soundtracks. The rest of the numbers are small combo jazz instrumental compositions by Bond and Warren Baker that were inspired by the novels of the same titles. So those tracks don't sound particularly Bond-movie-like in either melody or arrangement, and even the five interpretations of themes actually used in Bond films are far jazzier and less menacing than the arrangements with which most Bond viewers are most familiar. It's not a bad record at all, and yes, by the standards of cash-in albums, the execution is well above average. Just realize what you're getting into, though, if you pick it up with the expectations that the music will be strongly related to the kind of music usually associated with the soundtracks of films featuring the James Bond character. ~ Richie Unterberger, Rovi Performers: Bobby Bryant - Trumpet; Buddy Collette - Flute, Sax (Tenor); Harold Land - Sax (Tenor); James E. Bond - Bass; Joe Parnello - Piano |

Excerpt: This is a small list of James Bond gadgets featured in the franchise. The James Bond books and movies have featured exotic equipment and vehicles, which often prove to be critically useful. The original books and early adaptations had only relatively minimal pieces like the modified attache case in From Russia, with Love. However, the gadgets took on a more spectacular profile in the film version of Goldfinger, and its tremendous success encouraged the following films to have Bond supplied with still more equipment. For instance, it became an expected scene in each film where Q would present and demonstrate Bond's assigned tools for the mission, and it was a near guarantee that each and every piece would be invaluable to Bond in the field. In this sense, Bond gadgets became a prime example of the literary technique of Chekhov's gun. Fans eventually complained that the use of gadgets became excessive in the Roger Moore films, particularly in Moonraker, and subsequent productions struggled to find a balance in which gadgets could have a place without giving the impression that the character unduly depended on them or using stories that arbitrarily included situations that exactly fit the use of the gadgets assigned. This article concerns the gadgets James Bond typically carried on his person, along with additional gadgets used by others. For his gadget vehicles, see List of James Bond vehicles. Geiger counter Bond has to request one from Britain before using it to determine the radioactivity of Crab Key, suggesting they were an uncommon piece of equipment....More: http: //booksllc.net/?id=99945 |
