My name is Bond ... James Bond
What Roger Moore, Sean Connery, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan in common? They played most coveted Ian Fleming's James Bond 007. Unfortunately, they have now hung up his sleeve and opened the way for the new James Bond: Daniel Craig.
Born in Chester, England Daniel Craig is the son of Olivia, and Timothy John. Her mother is a professor of art, while his father was a former cadet in the merchant navy and served several jobs after landing on the coast. While attending high school at Hilbre High School and Calday Grange Grammar School in West Kirby, Daniel Craig has played rugby at Hoylake Rugby Club. Later he moved to London to take part in the National Theater of Youth before long stay in Calday.
Film Career
After making his big screen debut as Alex West in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in 2001, the next destination for Daniel Craig has been Road to Perdition with Tom Hanks and Paul Newman. In the film, he played the role of Connor Rooney, the son of a mobster Irish played by Paul Newman.
In October 2005, Daniel Craig has agreed to become the fifth James Bond of the signing of five films EON Productions. After accepting the challenge of playing the spy, Craig objective is to bring more emotional depth to this role. After a year, his first James Bond film, Casino Royale hits theaters.
Today, Daniel Craig is considered the highest paid British actor. His other film credits include The Golden Compass, Munich, Sylvia, a child of King Arthur's Court, among others.
Casino Royale
This is the film that started it all. James Bond embarks on his first mission as Agent Double O. In his first mission, after having recently been promoted as a double 0 agent, James Bond is competing in a poker game started by Le Chiffre in the context of its objective to recover a substantial amount of money from its customers it has lost in a failed plot to bond revoked.
The film begins with James Bond to oversee a terrorist based in Uganda. However, the mission is broader and Bond decides to investigate what led to the terrorist network of Le Chiffre. The work of his organization would end if the Bond beat in a poker game.
Quantum of Solace
Quantum of Solace, the next James Bond 22, picks up "Casino Royale" where you left off. This time, James Bond goes to Italy to ruin the plans of Dominic Green, who is the target of launching a coup in Bolivia and take control of its water supply.
If the subject of "Casino Royale" focused on terrorism, the goal of Quantum of Solace, however, is ecology.
After the film, Daniel Craig gets good reviews as the best James Bond after Sean Connery.
Quantum in Video
Daniel Craig lends his face and his character in Quantum The Game of Solace Video. Designed for users of the PS3 and Xbox 360 video game graphics HD leverages the capabilities of both systems to produce the best James Bond game ever.

The Science of James Bond $12.98 The science behind the gadgets, exploits, and enemies of the world's greatest spy From the sleek Aston Martin that spits out bullets, nails, and passengers at the push of a button to the microjet that makes hairpin turns to avoid a heat-seeking missile, the science and technology of James Bond films have kept millions of movie fans guessing for decades. The Politics of James Bond $14.98 The adventures and antics of James Bond have provided the world with many of the most gripping story lines of the last half-century. Fleming’s novels were bestsellers in their day, and the Bond films have been even more popular, becoming the most enduring and successful film franchise in history. By some estimates, half of the world’s population has seen a James Bond movie. A fascinating and accessible account of this global phenomenon, The Politics of James Bond uses the plots and characterizations in the novels and the blockbuster films to place Bond in a historical, cultural, and political context. Jeremy Black charts and explores how the settings and the dynamics of the Bond adventures have changed over time in response to shifts in the real-world environment in which the fictional Bond operates. Sex, race, class, and violence are each important factors, as Agent 007 evolves from Cold War warrior to foe of SPECTRE and eventually to world defender pitted against megalomaniacal foes. The development of Bond, his leading ladies, and the major plots all shed light on world political attitudes and reflect elements of the real espionage history of the period. This analysis of Bond’s world and his lasting legacy offers an insightful look at both cultural history and popular entertainment. |

The James Bond Songbook [BGP] $13.28 The James Bond Songbook, as even the liner notes for the 2006 CD of the LP on BGP admit, was a cash-in album on the craze for all things James Bond that had enveloped the world by the mid-'60s. Cleverly, the record was titled to be credited to the James Bond Sextet -- even though such an ensemble didn't really exist -- as the bassist was indeed named James Bond, though he usually went by the name of Jimmy Bond as a Los Angeles session man. Even by the standards of exploitation albums, however, this might be a disappointment. Not for the quality of the music, which is pretty competent cool jazz, but because, though all 12 of the song titles are taken from Ian Fleming novels that were made into films (excepting Monty Norman's famous "James Bond Theme"), in fact the majority of these are not the soundtrack themes actually used in the movies. For when this came out in 1965, just four of these movies had actually been made. That means that only "Thunderball," "From Russia with Love," "007 Theme from Dr. No," and "Goldfinger" (as well as "James Bond Theme") correspond to the themes actually heard on the soundtracks. The rest of the numbers are small combo jazz instrumental compositions by Bond and Warren Baker that were inspired by the novels of the same titles. So those tracks don't sound particularly Bond-movie-like in either melody or arrangement, and even the five interpretations of themes actually used in Bond films are far jazzier and less menacing than the arrangements with which most Bond viewers are most familiar. It's not a bad record at all, and yes, by the standards of cash-in albums, the execution is well above average. Just realize what you're getting into, though, if you pick it up with the expectations that the music will be strongly related to the kind of music usually associated with the soundtracks of films featuring the James Bond character. ~ Richie Unterberger, All Music GuidePerformers: James E. Bond - Bass; Bobby Bryant - Trumpet; Buddy Collette - Flute, Sax (Tenor); Harold Land - Sax (Tenor); Joe Parnello - Piano |

Living Daylights, The (James Bond) $13.46 The Living Daylights represents the first appearance by Timothy Dalton as Bond...James Bond. Based very, very loosely on an obscure Ian Fleming short story, the film finds Bond assigned to aid in the defection of KGB agent Jeroen Krabbe. 007 must prevent an unknown sniper from killing Krabbe before he can reach the West. The mysterious assailant turns out to be the luscious Maryam d'Abo, who like practically everyone in the film except Bond is Not All That She Seems. The plot wends its way through a scheme to trade several million dollars' worth of diamonds for weapons, which will be shipped off to mercenaries worldwide. The climax takes place high above the clouds in a cargo plane loaded with opium. Dalton would play Bond one more time in License to Kill (1989) before handing the franchise over to Pierce Brosnan. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide |

Goldfinger (James Bond) $13.46 With Goldfinger, the James Bond series took a turn away from relatively straightforward spy thrillers and toward campy gadgetry, extravagant sets, and kitschy jokes. Bond (Sean Connery) has to prevent a notorious gold smuggler, appropriately named Goldfinger (Gert Fröbe), from robbing Fort Knox. Goldfinger is surrounded by evil henchmen such as the sexy female pilot Pussy Galore (Honor Blackman) and Oddjob (Harold Sakata), who kills with his steel-rimmed bowler hats. In order to stop Goldfinger, Bond has to survive several perilous situations, including a huge, deadly laser. Goldfinger is one of the most popular films in the James Bond series, and it set the tone not only for the rest of the series but also for most of the action/adventure films of the late '60s and early '70s. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Movie Guide laser beam, Oddjob's razor-sharp bowler hat, and Bond's modified Aston Martin car, the film is quite possibly the most memorable Bond outing, and would be famously parodied decades later in the AUSTIN POWERS series, particularly GOLDMEMBER. |

Thunderball (James Bond) $13.46 Thunderball finds James Bond matching wits with the sinister espionage organization S.P.E.C.T.R.E, (which stands for Special Executive for Counterintelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion). Dispatched to the Bahamas, lucky Mr. Bond enjoys the attentions of three nubile ladies: Largo's mistress Domino Derval (Claudine Auger), British spy Paula Caplan (Martine Beswick, previously seen as a gypsy girl in the 1962 Bond epic From Russia With Love) and enemy agent Fiona Volpe (Luciana Paluzzi). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide |

Goldeneye (James Bond) $13.46 Pierce Brosnan made his first appearance as James Bond in this action thriller, the 17th in the series (excluding the 1967 Casino Royale and the 1983 Never Say Never Again) featuring the suave British super-agent. As the story begins, Agent 007 and his partner, Agent 006 (Sean Bean), pull a daring raid on a chemical weapons plant in the Soviet Union; however, they are captured by Russian troops, and while Bond is able to escape, 006 is not so lucky. Several years later, the Soviet Union and the Cold War are a thing of the past, but Bond is still at work ferreting out evildoers everywhere. Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen), a beautiful but vicious villain working with the Russian Mafia, spearheads the theft of the controls to GoldenEye, a high-tech satellite weapons system, and with her gunmen, she kills most of the soldiers and guards at a top-secret military facility in the process. Bond joins forces with Natalya Simonova (Izabella Scorupco), one of the base's few survivors, to help track down Onatopp's minions and the controls to GoldenEye, which can destroy all electronic circuits in a given area in a matter of seconds; however, in time, Bond discovers the true identity of the criminal mastermind who is behind this bid for unholy power and world domination -- none other than Alec Trevelyan, the man Bond once knew as 006. In addition to Brosnan, GoldenEye also marked another significant cast change for the Bond series -- Judi Dench made her debut as M, Bond's superior. Minnie Driver also has a cameo as a nightclub singer. Sadly, this was the last film in the Bond series for special-effects supervisor Derek Meddings, who died in the midst of production; the film was dedicated to him. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide |

Dr. No (James Bond) $13.46 Terence Young directed this first of a long line of screen adventures with Ian Fleming's unflappable British Secret Service Agent 007 in a fast-paced, tongue-in-cheek style that set the tone for the rest of the popular series. Sean Connery sets the standard by which all future takers must measure themselves as the insouciant and devil-may-care James Bond. The story concerns Bond being sent to Jamaica to investigate the murders of a British agent and his secretary. During his investigation, he comes into contact with the evil and unscrupulous Chinese scientist Dr. No (Joseph Wiseman) who, living on an island called Crab Key, is hard at work in a nuclear laboratory. Dr. No's scheme is to divert rockets being fired from Cape Canaveral off their charted course and to blackmail the United States to get their rocket launches restored to normal. Helping Bond is Ursula Andress (mostly undressed in a bikini throughout most of the film), as well as bad gals like Zena Marshall, who almost leads Bond to his death in her bedroom, and Eunice Gayson, a Bond pickup in a London gambling house who proves herself a greater adversary than even James Bond can handle. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide moments of all time. With a striking lack of gadgets, DR. NO is a heartier mystery than subsequent films in the series, providing for some excellent adventures in which Bond must rely on his own clever spy skills to get out of sticky situations. |

World Is Not Enough, The (James Bond) $13.46 James Bond, the world's greatest secret agent, is sent once more into the breach in the name of Queen, Country, and a dry martini. In the 19th Bond adventure, 007 (Pierce Brosnan) must resolve a potentially deadly power struggle between two unstable nations, with control of the world's oil supply as the ultimate prize. Bond is assigned as bodyguard to Elektra King (Sophie Marceau), the daughter of a petroleum magnate who was brutally murdered, and is trying to foil the fiendish plot of Renard (Robert Carlyle), a villain who was shot in the head with an unusual result: he cannot feel physical pain, an apparent failing that proves to be a considerable asset. Denise Richards appears as Dr. Christmas Jones, an expert on nuclear weapons, alongside Desmond Llewelyn as Q, Judi Dench as M, Samantha Bond as Miss Moneypenny, and John Cleese as R. Alternative rock band Garbage performs the theme song. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide rousing theme song from alternative rock band Garbage make this a worthy addition to the 007 series. The film also marks the 17th and final appearance of Desmond Llewelyn as Q; John Cleese is introduced as Q's successor, R. |

Live and Let Die (James Bond) $13.46 Roger Moore makes his first appearance as Bond...James Bond in 1973's Live and Let Die. Bond is dispatched to the States to stem the activities of Mr. Big (Yaphet Kotto), who plans to take over the Western Hemisphere by converting everyone into heroin addicts. The woman in the case is Solitaire (Jane Seymour in her movie debut), an enigmatic interpreter of tarot cards. The obligatory destructive-chase sequence occurs at the film's midpoint, with Bond being chased in a motorboat by Mr. Big's henchmen, slashing his way through the marshlands and smashing up a wedding party. Clifton James makes the first of several Bond appearances as redneck sheriff Pepper, while Geoffrey Holder is an enthusiastic secondary villain. The title song, written by Paul McCartney and Linda McCartney, provides the frosting on this 007 confection. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide |

Bond Girls are Forever: The Woman of James Bond $29.92 Before Bond, the parts I used to play in films were demure, sweet, antiseptic and antisex. I wasn't even allowed to think like a woman. Pussy Galore and 007 worked wonders for me.Teaming with anecdotes, first-person testimony and visual commentary, this lavishly illustrated book reveals the history and mystique behind the Bond women in all their roles and the effect they have had on 007, the lives of the actresses, and on pop culture. Before Bond, the parts I used to play in films were demure, sweet, antiseptic and antisex. I wasn't even allowed to think like a woman. Pussy Galore and 007 worked wonders for me.-Honor Blackman, Pussy Galore, GoldfingerbrSexy, stunning, bold, and brazen, the women in James Bond movies are among the most interesting females in films. Attacked by some feminists in the 1960s and 1970s as sex objects, the Bond women today are seen as self-confident, sexually assured role models. Teeming with anecdote, first-person testimony, intelligent commentary, and a wealth of visual material, from film stills to memorabilia, Bond Girls Are Forever explores the mystery and mystique behind the Bond women-as heroes and villains, as actors and characters, as love objects and mother figures, as steely bureaucrats and trained killers.brFrom Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress) rising from the sea in her sexy bikini in Dr. No to secret agent Jinx (Halle Berry) in Die Another Day, the Bond women have had a lasting impact on 007, on the lives of the actresses who played them, and on pop culture. Looking at these icons from both the male and female perspective, this elegant book shows us that no matter how they have changed over time, Bond girls are forever-in the fantasy lives of us all. |
